Apple Pay or Google Pay is missing when tipping

Apple Pay and Google Pay appear only where the phone and browser support them; Pay by card is always there.

When someone taps to tip, the pay screen first says Getting your payment options... for a moment. Stripe is checking which wallets that phone can offer.

What decides it

Apple Pay, Google Pay and similar buttons come from Stripe, and they appear only where the phone and the browser support them. AnyRequests does not choose them and cannot switch them on for a phone that cannot show them. If the phone offers none, the wallet row disappears and only the card option is left.

Pay by card is always there.

What to try

  1. Tap Pay by card. Type the card details and pay. This works on any phone.
  2. Wait a few seconds before deciding no wallet is offered. The screen can take a moment to check.
  3. If the page was opened inside another app, such as a social app, open it in the phone's own browser instead. See a link opened inside another app.
  4. Reload the page and try again.

You will see: the card fields to fill in, and a button that starts with Pay and shows the total.

If a payment fails

The screen says one of two things, and in both cases nothing has been taken:

  • "That payment did not go through. Nothing has been taken."
  • "Your card was declined. Nothing has been taken."

For a musician helping someone

You cannot fix a missing wallet button from your side. Tell them to use Pay by card. A tip is always optional and buys nothing for a request.
