The venue or location is wrong

On the Go Live form, pick the right venue, tap Check again, or type the name; location is used once and never stops you going live.

Your phone takes one location reading when you open Go Live. It is used to put nearby venues at the top, and you are not tracked during the gig. If the reading is a good one and the venue is on the shared list, we keep it with that venue to place the venue correctly (see the privacy policy). It never stops you going live.

The wrong venue is suggested

  1. On the Go Live form, look at "Playing at" and the venue name.
  2. If it is wrong, tap Somewhere else and choose from "Near you", or type the name.
  3. If it is right, tap Yes, that is the one.

Go Live waits until you have tapped one of those two answers.

No venues, or the list looks wrong

  1. Walk to where you will play. A reading taken in the car park can be off.
  2. Tap Check again. It says "Checking..." then "Getting a better fix...", and finishes with "Location settled."
  3. If a name matches nothing, type it in full. You can add a Town or city, which is optional and helps other acts find the same room.

If location is off on your phone, the form says "Location is off, so type the venue name." Typing works fine. To turn location on, change it in your phone's own settings for your browser or for AnyRequests.

"Saved as your own name"

If your phone could not place you well enough, a new name is saved as your own label. The form says "Saved as your own name for this place. Nobody else can pick it. Check again when you have a signal and it is added for everyone."

The dot says the venue is saved elsewhere

The dot shows how your phone's position compares with the venue. If it is red, the form says "This venue is saved" followed by how far away it is, then "from here." If you are at the venue, tap Fix the location. The venue is in the wrong place and you can say so.

You will see: the right venue name on the form, with a green or blue dot, or no fuss at all if you typed it.

Private gigs are saved as your own label by design. For what each colour means, see choosing a venue and the coloured dot.
