My printed code does not scan
Check what the code opens, whether the link has changed since printing, whether it was printed at actual size, and that it is dark on a pale ground.
1. Does it open your page?
Scan the printed code with your phone's camera.
- If it opens your page and says "Not taking requests right now.", the code works. You have not pressed Go Live.
- If it opens nothing, or a "Page not found" screen, keep reading.
2. Has your page link changed since you printed?
The code holds your page address, anyrequests.app/ followed by your page link. If you changed the link after printing, the old codes stop working. AnyRequests asks you to tick "I understand printed codes will stop working" before it lets you change it. Closing your account also takes your page down. The address printed on the sheet shows which link it holds. Change your link back, or print again.
3. Was it printed from a preview?
A sheet downloaded from anywhere but the live site points at a temporary address. The screen warns "Do not print anything from this build", and the codes on such sheets stop working. Open anyrequests.app, sign in and download again.
4. Was it printed at actual size?
- Print at actual size (100%), not "fit to page", or the cards come out too small.
- Check the size of the square the audience scans. The pack never draws a code smaller than these floors:
| Sheet | Smallest code |
|---|---|
| A3 poster | 100mm |
| A4 poster | 70mm |
| A5 table card | 55mm |
| A6 table card | 40mm |
| Business card | 30mm |
5. Is it clean and flat?
- The code is dark squares on a pale panel with a clear edge. Do not print it over a colour or a photograph with a see-through background, because the camera has nothing to read.
- Keep the code flat. Score heavy card along the fold line before folding, or it cracks along the crease.
You will see: your page opening when the phone's camera looks at the square from a short distance.
Before printing again, use See the code on its own in the print pack to check the code clearly. Everyone can also type the address printed on the sheet.
