The Go Live form

Start a gig from the Go Live form by choosing a venue, a song list, what the audience can ask for and a gig length, then tapping Go Live.

Start a gig

  1. Tap Go Live, the button in the middle of the bottom bar. The form is headed Start a gig.
  2. Under the heading, a line says Playing as and then a solo act, a duo or trio, or a band. Tap it to change it.
  3. Under Venue, tap one of the venues under Near you, or type the name. See Choosing a venue and the coloured dot.
  4. Under My song list, leave All songs or pick one of your songbooks.
  5. Under What the audience can request, choose Anything or My list only. See Anything or My list only.
  6. If it is a wedding, party or function, switch on Private gig. A What kind list appears, and you can choose one. See Public and private gigs.
  7. Under Gig length, tap + or the minus to change the length. Each tap moves it 15 minutes. It starts at 2 hr, and can run from 15 min to 12 hr.
  8. Tap Go Live.

You will see: the button changes to Going live..., then the live screen opens with a LIVE light and your venue name at the top. If it cannot start, the message Could not start the gig. Try again. appears and you can tap again.

Things to know

  • Go Live is pinned to the foot of the screen. The form scrolls behind it, so the button is always in the same place.
  • These choices are for this gig only. Your own settings do not change. See Settings that change for one gig only.
  • If the phone filled in the venue for you, it asks Playing at and the venue name. Tap Yes, that is the one or Somewhere else. Go Live waits until you answer.
  • If you have fewer than 20 songs, My list only is greyed out and a line says how many you have.
  • If another act played this venue earlier, a screen called Before you start may appear once you are live. See Sharing and handover between acts.
  • Paid requests and Tips rows appear on the form only for an account that has those Pro features. Pro is not on sale yet, so a Standard account sees neither.
  • To leave the form without starting, tap the cross at the top.
