Tip alerts

A line above your queue tells you when a tip lands, with the amount and who it is from, and you can switch it off in Settings.

When a tip lands during a gig, a line appears above your queue. It says how much and, if they gave a name, who from. It never makes a sound and it never covers a button.

What it says

  • One tip: "£5 just came in from Jo", or "£5 just came in" if there is no name.
  • Several at once: "3 tips came in, £15 in total".
  • Under it, a line may say "Highest in your queue:" followed by a song, so you can find the request of theirs that is already highest. A tip never changes the order of the queue.

The alert stays for about six seconds while you are looking at the screen. Press Clear this to dismiss it sooner. Their name also lights up on the live screen with a coin, and the gig's tips total stays at the top.

If you open the app after a few tips have come in, you get one summed line, not one alert for each.

To switch it off or on

  1. Open Settings from the menu.
  2. Find The live screen.
  3. Use the switch Tell me when a tip comes in.

You will see: the switch change straight away. It is on by default.

Turning the alert off does not stop tips arriving. They still appear in your total and on Tips.

If the switch is greyed out

If it is greyed out and says Tips are off, tips are switched off for your account, so there is nothing to announce. It keeps your choice, and turns back on when tips do. See Turning tips off.

This is on-screen only. For alerts that reach you when the app is closed, see Notifications not arriving.
