Setting up Stripe so you can be tipped

Connect Stripe from the Tips screen in about five minutes, once, and your tip button goes live on your page when Stripe approves you.

Stripe is the payment company that takes the tip and pays it into your bank. It is free to set up. You do it inside AnyRequests, and you only do it once. Have your bank details and a form of ID to hand.

  1. Open Tips in the main menu. If you have not set up yet, it opens on the Setup tab.
  2. Read the short panel headed Setting up payments. It says what you need and what to expect.
  3. Press Set up tips.
  4. Stripe will open a window to verify your phone. If nothing happens, your browser has blocked it. Look for a blocked popup notice in the address bar and allow it.
  5. Fill in the form. The form is Stripe's, in a panel marked Stripe. AnyRequests never sees your bank details or your ID.
  6. Carry on to the last screen. Stripe checks everything at the end, not as you go, so a section can be marked invalid on the final screen. Going back into it is normal. It is not a mistake.
  7. Send the form. The page may say Stripe is reviewing your details. You do not need to fill anything in again. The page changes on its own when the review finishes.

You will see: a tick and the heading You can be tipped, with the line "Your tip button is live on your page."

What else to expect

  • Stripe emails you within a few minutes of finishing, to confirm your account. Check your spam or junk folder. It is the first email you will have had from them.
  • Stripe asks you to verify your phone once per device. A second phone or a laptop will ask again. See Stripe asks me to sign in again.
  • If the screen has not moved on, press Check now. Stripe can take a few minutes.
  • Once you are approved, the tabs along the top are Overview, Payouts, Documents and Setup.

Do I need this before a gig?

No. You can go live without Stripe and requests work straight away. The audience only sees a tip button once Stripe has approved you. See No Stripe at a gig.

If your bank is set up but the money is not arriving, see When you get paid.
