Paid requests
Paid requests are part of Pro and are not on sale yet; this explains how they are designed to work and what you can already see in the app.
Where things stand
Paid requests are part of Pro. Pro is not on sale yet. On a Standard account the Paid requests card is on your Setup page with a Pro mark, greyed out. When you press it, it says Part of Pro. Coming soon. Nothing on it can be changed yet.
Everything below describes how the card works for an account that has it. See Standard and Pro.
How it works
- Every phone at your gig gets a set number of requests free. You choose how many.
- When a phone has used them, the audience can buy more from you.
- Each request they buy is used up when they send one.
- Bought requests work at that gig only, and disappear when it ends.
- Buying requests never means a song will be played. You always choose what to play.
The settings
They sit in the Paid requests card inside the Request limits section on Setup.
- Sell requests at my gigs: the switch. Every gig starts with this. You can switch any one gig to free requests from your live screen.
- Free requests per phone: a whole number from 0 to 10. At 0, every phone has to buy requests before it can send one.
- Price: in whole pounds, from £3 to £500.
- Requests: how many one bundle holds, from 1 to 50.
A line under the numbers shows the price for the bundle, about what you receive after fees, and what that is a request. If it works out under 20p a request, you are warned that you will receive very little for each one.
The audience pays through the same Stripe account as tips, so paid requests need payments set up first. See Setting up Stripe.
During a gig
Room controls has a free or paid choice for that gig only, so you can switch one gig back to free without touching Setup. The price and bundle can only be changed on Setup, so a price never changes mid-gig. See Room controls.
While paid requests run, your request limit does not apply. Instead, one phone can send at most five requests a minute, so a bundle cannot swamp your queue.
The Go Live form only shows the Paid requests choice for an account that has it. A Standard account sees no locked control there.
