Chart links and the Chords button

Save one chart link per song and it opens from your song list and from the live screen.

You set links on the Songs screen, between gigs. You cannot set them from the live screen.

  1. Open Songs, then My songs.
  2. Next to the song, tap the three dots (More).
  3. In the box Paste a link to your chart, paste the address.
  4. Tap Save.

You will see: Saved appears, and the button on that song changes from Find chords to the kind of chart you saved, such as Chords.

The sheet also has a Find chords link. It opens a search in a new tab. Find your chart, copy its address, come back, paste it and save.

The address must start with http. Otherwise you will see That does not look like a link. It needs to start with http. Each song holds one link. To remove it, clear the box and tap Save. Any web address works: Ultimate Guitar, a PDF in a shared folder, or another app's share link.

What the button says

On each song in your list:

  • No link saved: Find chords. It searches Ultimate Guitar for the title and artist.
  • A link saved: the button says what the link is. Chords, Tab, Guitar pro, Bass or Ukulele if the address says so. Otherwise it shows the end of the address.

If you set How you play to backing tracks, the words are Lyrics and Find lyrics, and the search is an ordinary web search. See How you play.

On the live screen

Every request card has one chart button. It says Chords when the song has a saved link, and Find chords when it does not. In a browser both open in a new tab; in the installed app Find chords opens in a sheet inside the app. There is no box to paste into on the live screen.

The Ultimate Guitar search only passes the song title and artist to their site. Their own policy applies there.

A spreadsheet or CSV with a column called Link, URL or Chart brings the links in with the songs. If you import again, the links attach to songs you already have. See Importing a list and checking it.

If a chart opens on the wrong song, see Chords open on the wrong song.
