What the audience sees
The request page shows a search box, a name box, a Send Request button and two lists while a gig is live, and a plain message in every other state.
When a gig is live
The audience scans your code and your page opens in their phone's browser. There is no app to install and no account to make. The page is not the AnyRequests app you use. It is a separate page that is yours.
From the top, the page shows:
- The small line Live Song Requests, then the heading Request a Song, then your tagline, if you have written one. With no tagline, that line is left out.
- Name your song and a box that says Search a song or artist. Matches appear after two letters.
- A line above the box about the search. If you take any request, it says: Search for anything. Songs with a green tick are ones they're likely to play. If you take requests from your list only, it says: The search shows the songs they play. A Browse the list button then opens your list, with A to Z, Artists and Decades views.
- Who's it for? (optional) with the example "Sarah, or the table". It takes up to 24 characters.
- The Send Request button, and a line in your voice saying you cannot promise to know the song but will do your best.
- A list: Most requested so far or Popular. See How requests and votes work.
- A tip button, if you have connected Stripe and tips are on. See Tipping, Apple Pay and Google Pay.
- At the foot, a Privacy link and, only if it applies, a line about requests being passed to the next act.
After they send, the page says Request sent and, underneath, that the act will fit it in if they can, with no promises. The Request another song button takes them back to the form.
When it is not live
The page works out which of these to show. It checks again about every ten seconds.
| State | Heading | What else it says |
|---|---|---|
| Break | The form stays. | A notice such as "Back at" a time, or Back shortly., and: You can still send a request while they are away. |
| Paused | Not taking new requests just now. | Anything already sent is still with the act. Have a look again in a little while. |
| Blocked phone | Requests from this phone are closed for the rest of this gig. | Anything already sent is still with the act. Thanks for being here, and enjoy the rest of the music. |
| No gig live | Not taking requests right now. | If they're playing and haven't switched this on, give them a nudge. |
| Gig just ended | That's a wrap. | Requests are closed. If they sent a request, it adds: Thanks for joining in. |
The wrap message shows for 20 minutes after the gig ends. After that the page says it is not taking requests.
The tip button stays on the paused, no-gig and wrap messages. It is left off for a blocked phone.
A wrong address
If the link does not match a page, the audience sees Page not found, with: There's no request page at this address. Check the QR code or link and try again.
You can see all of this yourself. Open Try it as the audience.
